Wimbledon Tennis: Millennium Building

The Millennium Building is a large existing multi-use sports building that forms part of the Wimbledon Tennis All England Lawn and Tennis Club Estate, adjacent to and joined via bridges to Wimbledon Centre Court.

Shaun Rahman-Corey worked for over two years as the Senior Architect, on the renovation, refurbishment and extension of this scheme, on behalf of KSS Group, an award winning AJ 100 London based architecture practice.

This highly complex and demanding scheme required a full renovation of this existing building, that houses Players, Members and Media during Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Shaun Rahman-Corey worked across much of this large project, leading various packages, including the design and delivery of the first phase of the project, ready for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The full design of this scheme is phased over 4 years, to allow construction works to stop for 3 months each year to facilitate Wimbledon Championships in July of each year. The Building's proposed design includes an additional floor maximising useable area and an all encompassing timber diagrid roof structure, spanning internally and externally across the whole building. The proposed design also include space such as, players' atrium, roof garden, lawn, restaurants, gym, lounges, media courtyard, media offices, facilities, members Lawn, restaurants and more.
